Collaborative effort with Louise Dousset and Nathan Raccah, the origin of the face-to-face pinch-clipping principle. Two folded royal grid paper A3s taped on the edges, with two long wire arc pieces supporting the lower four corners and crimping the shade to the cable. Fully open square bottom. Initially a straightforward replacement for landlord-issue Ikea lampshades, ornamented and accessorized throughout its lifetime.
Initial solo design, series of 4: intricate bent wire, royal grid paper, red twisted cable, internally painted bulb; frame and shade codependent for structural integrity. Face-to-face overlapping top corners supplemented by overlapping bottom corners to create closed form.
Added handle.
Larger Ikea e27 bulbs replace previous Pibaogus.
Full redesign, series of ~10: three pieces twisted together for tripod plus one for handle looped and crimped on. Hemp/mulberry washi replaces royal grid paper. Shade clips together without attaching to frame, now slides over handle as the shade and frame are two independent structures.
New cable and hardware: white Italian low-resistance plugs replace finger-hole model, transparent switches replace black Castiglioni model, white painted bakelite socket replaces vintage black Philips model. Standard transparent cord rather than custom braided.
Light source painted directly on diodes, rather than inner or outer bulb surface.
Heat shrink on feet.
Attempts at removable handle for flatpacking results in replacement of crimped connection by threading twisted wire of handle into doubled loop on frame triangle.
Changed bulb placement, bulb sits directly on triangle of frame.
Baseline store-brand bulbs replace Ikea bulbs, better for customization owing to surprisingly larger number of diodes on board.
First Clipless in smoked translucent polypropylene with m3 screws based on early continuous form paper test.
Reduced screw count from 12 to 8, changed to slot pan-head.
Added frosted translucent option.
Switch to black cord hardware; white parts of lightbulb painted black.
Reversion to crimp-connected handle.
Simplification in plastic structure, reduced from two layers to one. Sheets now cover one side of the square each, no longer vestigially wrapping around corners as was necessary with paperclips and paper.
Externally threaded bulb socket. Heat shrink on feet changed from black to transparent.
Reversion to non-threaded bulb socket. Heat shrink added to frame triangle where it touches the bulb casing.
